Hello there children, it’s me, your Sharky!

Many of you have probably already seen me. I`d like to tell you something about myself and sharks in general.was-ist-was.png

What is what?

1.  Teeth

You won’t believe it, but I NEVER have to go to the dentist. If my teeth fall out or become damaged, they regrow immediately for as long as I live. My shark colleagues and I have another kind of teeth, even the upper and lower ones are different from each other.

2. Skin

Now you have to watch out! I am a rough customer, but a rough exterior hides a heart of gold. I`ve got “skin teeth” on my body. So beware! If you come too close, my skin could hurt you.

3. Fins

I need my pectoral (“chest”) fins for steering. They allow me to stop on the spot or dart sideways like a rabbit. For this, I also need my ventral (“belly”) fins. I need the two dorsal (“back”) fins to keep my balance. In other words, for stabilisation. My ventral and anal (“bottom hind”) fins also help a little! And here comes what is most important; my caudal (“tail”) fin!
By swiftly moving it back and forth, I can cover up to 50 kms in an hour.
